Henry Olk Field Notebooks, 1908-1946.

Field notebooks, 1908-1946, of Henry J. Olk, a graduate of the Michigan College of Mines (now Michigan Technological University) in Houghton, Michigan. Includes three field notebooks, two of which date from his time at the College, while one is dated considerably later, probably while he was working as the City Engineer in Antigo, Wisconsin. Also includes a textbook, apparently compiled by Olk from a mining class.

In 1901 Michigan Mining School (now Michigan Technological University) in Houghton, Michigan received funding for two additional buildings. The Civil and Mining Engineering Building, was built at a cost of $28,880, was a two-story hip-roofed structure with a five-story tower centered on the front. Henry J. Olk was born in Antigo, Wisconsin in 1887. He went on to attend the Michigan College of Mines (now Michigan Technological University) in Houghton, Michigan.
